The Reclaimed Stone Collection
Reclaimed Gray Barre Montpellier
Limestone — France
An antique French limestone originally quarried in the Montpellier region of France in the 18th and 19th centuries. It has rich, rustic characteristics, warm gray color variation and a beautiful timeworn patina.
A History of Quality
Specifically quarried from within the Montpellier region of France, our antique Gray Barre Montpellier is salvaged from country homes, farmhouses, apartment buildings and smaller homes that originally date back to the 18th and 19th centuries. This rich and rustic limestone has a characteristic variation of warm gray color tones and a beautiful timeworn patina. Notably, the reclaimed Gray Barre Montpellier has a slightly denser composition than the standard reclaimed Gray Barre. As a result, the Montpellier is suitable for both interior use and certain exterior installations in warmer climates. First cut in similarly-sized pieces, the stone was typically laid by random lengths—lending a sense of uniformity and regularity to the installation.
