Newly quarried Monceau comes from the Dordogne region, best known for having the highest concentration of castles per area in all of France. The limestone and sandstone deposits throughout these areas offer a wide range of nuanced shelling, veining patterns and color variation. Though machinery is used for extraction, transportation and fabrication of the raw materials, the final steps of the process are left to the hands of expert stonemasons.
