Dry Treat STAIN-PROOF® Waterborne Dense Stone Sealer
STAIN-PROOF® Waterborne Dense Stone Sealer, formerly known as META CRÈME™, is the next generation of sealing technology, the ultimate breathable impregnating sealer for protecting natural stone, tiles, masonry, pavers, concrete and grout. It represents world best practice in sealing.
USAGE
Waterborne Dense Stone Sealer is ideal for indoor/ outdoor use on kitchen countertops, bathroom vanities, entertainment areas, pool surrounds, patios, countertops, floors, walls, building facades, and for public / commercial areas.
BENEFITS
-
Oil and water repellency for superior stain protection on dense surfaces such as marble and granite. Do not use on resined quartzite.
-
Super penetration creates water and oil-repellency, which provides protection against stains and many other serious problems caused by water.
-
Retains the appearance and color of the surface. (Test before as cream can slightly darken some substrates)
-
Easy, one coat application.
-
Makes surfaces easier to clean, keeping them looking new for longer. • Breathable - water vapor escapes freely.
-
Non-drip, waterborne cream. Great for vertical and smooth dense surfaces and floors, indoors or outdoors.
-
LEED EQ Credit Conformance
-
LEED NC 2.2 EQ Credit 4.2: Low-Emitting Materials references South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) Rule 1113, Architectural Coatings, rules in effect on January 1, 2004.
-
Permanent bonding silanes with 50% active ingredient - no annual resealing required.
DIRECTIONS
ALWAYS TEST PRODUCT ON A SMALL AREA FIRST and allow a 24hr cure time to determine the ease of application and desired results.
-
Surfaces to be treated must be dry, clean and free of residues, and surface temperature between 40 - 95°F (5 - 35°C).
-
Apply Waterborne Dense Stone Sealer using a high density foam roller. One coat application only. The roller will leave the correct amount of sealer. Avoid contact with surrounding areas.
-
Remove all excess cream with clean dry cloths (or squeegee) after a dwell time of 45 minutes to 1 hour. Failing to remove excess sealer after 1 hour will make surface slippery; removing excess sealer also becomes very challenging after 1 hour. View estimated application rates on page 2.
-
Use fresh water to clean equipment.
-
Avoid moisture contact with the surface for a minimum of 12 hours after application.
-
To clean treated surfaces, use Stain-Proof Daily Countertop Cleaner, Daily Floor Cleaner or Stain-Proofs Alkaline Cleaner.
Note: Sealer will NOT prevent surface etching, scuffing or wear and may lighten or darken some surfaces.
APPLICATION RATE
The total application rate is approximately one quart per 30 to 100 sq. feet (1 litre per three to 10 sq.m.) depending on absorption. Refer to the minimum Sealer Application Rates table for more information.
NOTES & TIPS FOR USE
1.TESTING Waterborne Dense Stone Sealer must be allowed to cure for at least 4 weeks before undertaking testing. Repellency will start the same day of application but full chemical bond under the surface will be a few weeks. Achieving optimum stain repellence Waterborne Dense Stone Sealer’s specially designed sealing molecules migrate through the pores and find sites to bond by a process of chemical reaction. As more Waterborne Dense Stone Sealer bonds inside the pores, the material becomes more oil and water-repellent. The modified silane molecules in Waterborne Dense Stone Sealer are hundreds of times smaller than the best modern competitor waterbased sealers, which cannot penetrate into the pores of dense materials, such as polished granites and marbles. Do not use on resined quartzites. Typical penetration of Waterborne Dense Stone Sealer into most granites and marbles is 7 to 13 millimeters.
2. APPLYING ON DENSE / POLISHED SURFACES For extra penetration, Waterborne Dense Stone Sealer may be left to penetrate for up to 1.5 hours on polished surfaces such as countertops. Do not leave on longer, as cream will become difficult to remove.
3. APPLYING ON SMOOTH SURFACES Once Waterborne Dense Stone Sealer has been left for 45 minutes to 1 hour to penetrate a smooth (honed / polished / antiqued) surface, a squeegee can be used to speedily remove the bulk of the product residue. Then, the small amount of remaining excess product / residue can be easily removed with a terrycloth towel. Do a final wipe down entire surface with a microfiber towel.
4. APPLYING ON HIGHLY POROUS MATERIALS Although designed for dense surfaces, Waterborne Dense Stone Sealer. can be used on highly porous, absorbent surfaces, such as sandstone and soft varieties of limestone, which should be pre-sealed before the application. A test is critical for this type of surface, as color changes can occur. Newly laid floors should also be pre-sealed prior to grouting, so that the grout is easy to remove and does not cause stains. A light sprayed coat of STAIN-PROOF® Waterbased Penetrating Sealer, formerly known as STAIN REPELLA™, makes a cost effective pre-sealing, and requires only 2-3 hours of drying time before applying grout or a coat of Waterborne Dense Stone Sealer. Once the grout is dry and all grout haze has been thoroughly removed, Waterborne Dense Stone Sealer can be applied over the tiles and grout.
5. APPLYING ON ROUGH SURFACES On rough surfaces, cream will collect in gaps and pits. Use a paint brush to remove the excess.
